A very warm welcome to our table tennis club. Based at Redlands Table Tennis Centre in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, we provide opportunities for everyone to access the sport regardless of their age, sporting ability, gender or background. Ideal for those who want to find out how good they can be, we strive for excellence, helping club members to find out what they are capable of. Dedicated to progress and opportunities for all, we are a proud Table Tennis England Premier Club and was Club of the Year Runner up in 2014.
As a club we have a comprehensive timetable where we deliver fun, safe and organised table tennis sessions within high quality facilities across Olympic standard tables. Our sessions are run by highly qualified and experienced coaches, all who have a DBS and are emergency first aid trained. We have a growing reputation across counties for producing nationally ranked players, many who go on to represent their county, and some who are lucky enough to go on to represent their country.
We also boast having produced a national champion who has also gone on to compete internationally, a fact in which we are very proud of. This is all achieved through our junior coaching pathway, where we have different awards and targets for the players to try to achieve to help with their development. Also within our comprehensive timetable, is the opportunity for competition, where we have teams competing, locally within our very own and highly successful super league, nationally and also within the British League.
Our teams compete across all different age groups. There are also opportunities for social table tennis play, where you can bat and chat to your hearts content, return back to table tennis, maybe after a few years away from the sport, give your school the opportunity to receive some specialist sessions or get your business involved in our corporate activities. We cater for everyone, so why not get in touch and we will welcome you into our family. Find our more below and follow us on social media.
Aside from arranging and hosting regular league events and casual informal sessions, we offer advanced coaching at both group and individual level, tailored to all abilities and age ranges. From mini tots to over fifties, the club runs group sessions through the week, with individual coaching available by appointment. With our coaching we strive for success, promoting hard work, teamwork and help to develop each individual both on and off the table, whilst maintaining an enjoyable but focused atmosphere.
All of our sessions are led by experienced coaches, Paul Johnson and Amy Gittings, who are approved and certified in the coaching of table tennis. Both are fully licensed Table Tennis England coaches and are continuously attending CPD courses to keep up to date with relevant DBS and child protection measures. We also provide coaching for schools, running various sessions in both primary and secondary schools, either as after school clubs or sport specific lessons. We are committed as a club to provide better and easier pathways for young people to progress from school level to club level sport.
Whatever your goals are with table tennis, whether it is keeping fit, meeting new people, playing in a local league, or to even fulfil a dream of playing for your country, our coaches and club are here to help you succeed. Serious or casual, we host a range of sessions every week to give everyone the opportunity to access our wonderful sport and play within a setting that they feel comfortable in. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, friendly but ambitious club.
Founded back in September 2009 by a young up and coming coach, Paul Johnson, he had seen that the local Gainsborough table tennis league was rapidly decreasing in size, mainly due to a lack of interest in the sport within the area at youth level. With a lifelong passion for the sport, Paul decided to act upon the matter by starting up a club. With a coaching qualification already under his belt and a vast amount of playing experience, he set about his task by hiring out a local hall. The rest is history, now running an established and successful table tennis club based in Worksop.
The local community is of massive importance to us, our founder living in the area all of his life. By founding the club he wanted to give local residents the opportunity that he never really had as an aspiring table tennis player growing up; a club that could push him to be the best he could possibly be. Now providing Worksop and the surrounding areas with access to a high level table tennis club, we strive to provide opportunities for everyone regardless of experience.
Whatever the goal and however high the ambition, it is of paramount importance to our coaches and the club to create a legacy that lasts a lifetime, not only for local people but also for those further afield. As ambassadors of the sport and of the table tennis community, we host and organise competitions, competitive events, regular sessions, tailored coaching sessions and much more. Players can access these services from not only the county, but from all over the country, allowing them to fulfil their table tennis dreams. Why not get in touch and we will welcome you into our family?
