Over the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th February was the second weekend of the Junior British League. Players representing Blitz were: Abraham Sellado, Joel Smith, Luke Hyde and Teddy Heather.
Once again it was a great weekend for our players, with a high team spirit and gaining more confidence from the first weekend, our team showed good fight and determination in their games resulting in some close matches.
The first match of the weekend was against BATTS Table Tennis Club, where Blitz played really well to beat the team sitting higher in the division 4-2, a great start to the day! Their second match of the day was against Ackworth Table Tennis Club, where we unfortunately lost 4-2 in some very close 5 set matches, with Joel Smith & Abraham Sellado picking up the 2 wins. The final match of the day was against Darlington Table Tennis Club, where the team managed to pull off a great result, winning 5-1, with Joel Smith and Teddy Heather both winning 2 matches, and Luke Hyde picking up the remaining win.
Our first match of the Sunday was against a young Dublin Table Tennis Club, a tough start to the day for Blitz, losing 4-2 in some close matches, again with Abraham Sellado and Joel Smith both picking up a win each. The final game of the tournament was against Ackworth Table Tennis Club, this match would decide who came 5th or 6th within the league. Unfortunately, we lost 4-2 in again some very close fought matches.
Blitz Table Tennis Club finished in 6th place in Division 8 of the Junior British League, a good result for the team’s first entry into the tournament. Overall, the competition has been a great learning experience for our players, they all fought hard and showed a strong team spirit. We are very proud of the way they represented our club and we are already looking forward to next year’s Junior British League.
